Incredibly approachable, nigh breezy glance at a person's life, as accompaniment to a passionate look at the food prepared, encountered and eaten in that life.
Includes recipes, admonishments on best/true versions/pairings of certain dishes, especially heritage Italian, and lamentations of vanished eateries and suppliers.
It manages to escape the ‘mourning for the good old days/they don't make ‘em like they used to' cranky old guy vibes because so many good food traditions are preserved and discussed, and there are snippets of wry humility about where sentiment trumped tastebuds (i.e. it wasn't actually good/nutritious, but it was tradition).
Review of catering/craft services on film sets in different countries was particularly fun.
“that fucking timpano” 😂
So happy to see in anecdotes told how clear it is he's been blessed to be lucky in love twice, and made good friends besides. Also, openly left-leaning politics/ethics is such a comfort to see in what is emerging as the ‘older generation'.
A chatty bit of fun, with heart.
⚠️cancer diagnoses, details of treatment and recovery; FYI: For fellow vegans, Tucci is most certainly an omnivore, and the slaughter and preparation of animals for consumption is part of the text 🫣
