An enjoyable quick read. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would and encourages me to want to read the series.

One of my favorite things about romance short stories is that the couple has to get their act together fairly quickly. There's no dragging out a misunderstanding, no vacillating, no being oblivious to their feelings. Of course, there's also no slow burn, which I do miss whenever I read a short story.
Anyway, this was not my introduction to Hexworld, if it had been, I probably would have rated it four stars, but because I already loved the world it is set in so much, five stars was and is a perfectly good rating for it.
Dom and Rook are... well, I mean they do have to get themselves together fairly quickly, but I could also see them being the sort that just cannot spit the words out for anything, so that's fun. I also like them as they are a good, solid pair of characters and a solid couple and I've always liked when they show up in later stories as a solidly established relationship to seem like adults against whichever couple is causing drama in that book.
(Also, I cannot believe I've only read this book once before, but that's what Goodreads says.)
