The Anubis Gates

This is a book about a fellow from 1983 who goes back in time to 1810. There, he becomes embroiled with some crazy Gypsies who practice dark sorcery, and our hero must put a stop to their evil plans. I enjoyed the first 3/4 of this book immensely. Lots of story thread were wrapped up nicely and with a lot of surprise. I did not accurately predict much of this book, and that's always nice. The last 1/4 of the book wasn't as good for me. It was difficult to follow, and I frankly still don't know exactly what happened.

The overall uniqueness and cleverness of this book has kept it a solid 4 stars despite the lackluster ending.
