A quick, fun read but more clever than engaging. It's interesting to see how the characters all meet and come together, but they didn't feel much like real people to me (which is ironic given the title). Also, I'm not a big fan of love triangles, and there's one that plays a major role in the plot. Finally, I found the depiction of recovery from addiction to be very misleading (Hazard has been a drug and alcohol addict for many years, but he goes away to an exotic island and detoxes without any trouble or active support, and is basically "cured" after just one relapse). YMMV if you are looking for something light to get your mind off of the current shitshow that is our world in the summer of 2020.
