The bad luck bride

This is another historical romance I was fairly excited about and ended up not being impressed by. I pushed myself through this, mostly because I was bored. 
I kinda figured this one person would be redeemed which ruined my opinion of Lord Pembrooke... although the way he treated Claire made me upset too. Not that he was mean to her, but he never explained himself correctly. He wasn't open with her, although she was open with him!

It is one of those more slice of life books, where I'm not too certain what the plot was for a while. I think the problem is that none of the characters gripped me. I couldn't connect to anyone, although I thought I would towards the beginning. Claire is fantastic! I really like her, but not enough I suppose. Everyone seems pretty bland :/
