No. Just no. I am an absolute sucker for a hockey romance but I could not push through this. This felt like insta love but worse. The FMC internal monologue was exceptionally triggering for me (there are trigger warnings) due to (what I'm assuming is) anorexic tendencies. Please scroll past this review now if you find this kind of content triggering. The phrasing was consistent with this; however, it just didn't sit well with me. For example: when observing her friend eating snacks it is described as “shoving food down her gullet” - this specific phrasing was where I began to realize it was a DNF. In addition, it felt like the prose was overly descriptive for the content. It also felt like the author had gotten a thesaurus recently and went overboard using it. Also the words used did not seem to be correct for the context. For example: “some of the fans' voices rise to decibel levels”... a decibel is a unit of measurement for sound, not a specific level that can be reached. There were also inconsistencies. FMC observes hockey players coming into the ice and they appear small to her but she can see the exact color of one of the players' eyes from her seat? Overall, this book is just poorly written.
