Up front, I was given a copy of this audiobook for review. But all opinions are my own.
The Billionaire's Impromptu Bet was a short, contemporary, inspirational romance. It features Brie. the spoiled daughter of a billionaire, and Jesse, a member of a NY SWAT team. The two characters meet as a result of a bet that Brie makes with her best friend. Brie is that character that needs to be redeemed. When she was first introduced in the story, I just didn't like her. I really liked that the author spent time with the character development and really had Brie grow to someone that I could cheer for. I could have used a little more time spent on Jesse. He's a pretty solid character... Christian, has a good job, decent friends, volunteers regularly. One of those characters that just has his act together and is really there to support Brie in her growth.
The story is pretty straightforward. There's a little monkey wrench thrown in to try to upset the happily ever after, but was easily resolved considering the length of the story. I could have used a little more conflict or at least Brie have a little more inner debate regarding dating a man of faith, but that's only because I wanted a little more meat on the story. But what was presented was solid.
This is the first narration by Sarah Sampino that I've listened to. I enjoyed her performance and I think my only complaint would be that there were times when I felt that there should have been more of a break between scenes. But that could also be an editing issue. Otherwise, I had no issued with the performance.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. I can't say that I'll run out and get any more books by Ms Hoopes, but I'm also not adverse to reading more in the future. It was a nice couple hours of diversion.
