At this point I've read 3 Jennifer Hillier books. Jar of Hearts, Things We Do In The Dark, and now this one. This one has been my favorite. I loved the premise. I flew through it and found it overall enjoyable to read.
That being said where was the editor for this ebook? There were so many grammatical error it actually took me out of the story.
I also didn't like the casual racism by not only our “villain” but also by some of the “good guys”.
There's also repeated use of the R-Slur that bothered me too. I understand one of the characters is 80 and is from a different time. Still made me uncomfortable to read the racist, sexist, and ableist slurs used even when prefaces by “this is what we'd say back in my day”.
Despite the flaws, and not being surprise by a single “twist” The Butcher was a decently good read.
