“It's pretty easy to keep an eye on an object once you know its orbit. But HR42 looks like it may have come from outside of the solar system. Just that is unlikely—it's rare for an object of that mass to come into our path from outside of the solar system. Space is huge. Our solar system is really, really big and mostly empty space, and it's just statistically unlikely. This whole thing was unlikelihoods on top of unlikelihoods.”
Okay, two more interviews: Harlan Dean from the government and Maria Mitchell, an astronomer who initially found the asteroid HR42. Some background and two more different points of view on the September 2nd incident. Nothing really interesting. I'll grab the next RELEASE just for the sake of completeness.
