I am joining @katieandbreypa and @bonnyfawn_author today to tell you all about...
The Clients by Bonny Fawn! I had the pleasure to read this book this month and here are my musings.
A sudden crisis of conscience has Mel Green, a con artist who faked her own death during 9/11, coming to see her step daughter graduate from school to explain that she is really alive.. Problem is, she bumps into her husband... An abusive man.... A con man himself that got himself buried deep unbeknownly with terrorists. Mel dying and the towers collapsing did him a favor... Until now.
Now he can get the list of “clients” from Mel's locket and save himself by flipping it to the FBI. He can start a new life but the clients want their information back and they will stop at nothing to retrieve it.
Can Mel save herself and her stepdaughter before it's too late?
The synopsis of the book had me intrigued but I wasn't overly jazzed to start it.... I WAS WRONG!! This book spanked me in all the right places and had me begging for more. The build up was geniusly written and I could feel the prickling of excitement under my skin.
Mel started a new life with stolen funds from her ex and was living a decent, but solitary life. The one thing missing was Isla. The stepdaughter she left behind when she made the decision to run for her life.
When Riley, the man she works with and had a few dates with, shows up she has now put him in immeasurable danger along with herself.
I liked the character development because it didn't spend a lot of time filling me in on the who and the why but more on the dynamic of the players whose POV we get to see. I usually don't like so many POVs but I can actually see why it was necessary here and for the most part, Mel was the main protagonist.
I really enjoyed that you never really knew what was going on. I always felt like we were kept in the dark on purpose and I loved every blinding second of that!
Absolutely 4.5 solid stars for me! Great suspense book! If you love a fast paced, kick you in the crotch thrilling ride, then this one has to be your next read.
