I started this book expecting a laugh-out-loud set of essays about knitting. While not the side-splitting tales akin to Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, Okun instead mixes humor with real life struggles dealing with mental health and growing up with crafting, including knitting. She also embroiders and crochets and talks about her sister's adventures with basket-making (not basketweaving, so stop rolling your eyes).
There are some truly charming, funny bits and other essays that are heart wrenching. If you're looking for more SPM, then just go re-read one of her books but if you're looking for a different perspective, Okun has something genuine to offer.
