A short story featuring the Understudy, Croyd Crenson and (briefly) another character that should be obvious from the cover. It's largely a story about family and relationships - the sort of thing Cornell does well - with Abigail's mother featuring heavily in it. She's written as a character who is unlikeable yet very believable and not actively malicious, while we also see both the darker and the more positive aspects of Croy'd lifestyle. It's an entertaining story, with both humour and emotional beats, and provides a link between the sections featuring the Understudy in the novels.
