Fans of fractured fairy tales will be delighted to discover the fantasy, mystery, adventure, and humor in the beloved New York Times bestselling Sisters Grimm series by Michael Buckley, now with new cover art Orphaned sisters Sabrina and Daphne are sent to live with their newly discovered grandmother, Relda Grimm, in the strange town of Ferryport Landing. The girls soon learn a family secret: that they are descendants of the famous Brothers Grimm, whose book of fairy tales is actually a history book. When a terrorizing giant goes on a rampage through the town, it's up to the Sisters Grimm to stop him and to solve the mystery of who set the giant loose in the first place. Was it Mayor Charming, formerly Prince Charming, who desperately wants his kingdom back? The Three Not-So-Little Pigs, the shifty town cops? Or one of the many other fairy-tale characters who seem to have it out for the Grimms? I forgot that I read this book at all... I just remembered suddenly today, and I got here to log it. It was pretty cool, I loved the fantasy world. Making all these magical creatures live in one place must have been tricky. Anyways our sisters were pretty enjoyable and fun especially their grandma!!!
I read this book as an adult and not to either one of my kids and I LOVED it! The author is so incredibly smart in the way he incorporates all the Everafters from so many different cultures and time periods. The reveal of a secret group toward the end of the book was great and makes me anxious to read the next book in the series.
I can't wait to see more adventures from Serena, Daphne, Puck, Relda, and Mr. Canis.
Unfortunately, I read this book after becoming hooked on that new TV series “Once Upon A Time” and couldn't help but keep comparing it the whole time I read this. I probably would have liked the book better if I wouldn't have seen the TV show before reading it. However, this book and that TV show are for two entirely different audiences, so taking that into consideration, this was a great book. I'm sure my children will enjoy reading it themselves when they get older.
