The family tree

Kate is an orphan who has lived with her Aunt Millicent, a reluctant guardian at best. Aunt Millicent decides that it's time someone on her father's side of the family takes care of her, but the only remaining relative is elderly cousin Lawrence, who lived in the house where her father had grown up.
