Having their paths cross at this exact moment was fated and exhilarating for the pair. While Thea's path is dangerous and with Kits help, she actually feels hope for the first time ever.

As the heat between the two is turned up, the Order is catching up and the last thing Thea wants is her immortal being, being caught in the crosshairs of a war she started.

I loved the concept of the book. The idea that there are real beings on tarot cards, that exist on another plane, having a real impact on the world... genius and truly an original concept in my opinion. I loved the idea of Thea being a spy groomed from a young age. I also really enjoyed the chemistry and the build up between Thea and Kit that you could cut with a knife. Gripping stuff. The writing was seriously solid and the author has some real talent.

What didn't I enjoy... It was spicier than I would have liked. I could have done with a lot less of that but I am sure I am in the minority there. It felt like it was all bunched up in the middle instead of being spread out more. It just seemed unnatural to me. I also would have loved more of Arcana instead of Earth but I am hoping that the next book will give us more from there.

I am curious to see what happens in book 2 so I will wait and see where Kit and Thea end up next.

4 stars because the writing was very clever.
