While I am not usually inclined to like taking tests that categorize humans into one of x-number of categories, I was surprised how easily, when it came to decision making, it was to categorize not only myself but other people I know using the Four Tendencies.

Just knowing how people might make a decision, myself included, makes it easier to understand why we react to certain things the way we do. Since Rubin focuses mostly on habits and how and why we make and stick to habits rather than blanket statements about every aspect of an individual's personality, the categories and her description made a lot more sense.

We spend our lives trying to “do the right thing” for our health, wealth and well-being and knowing whether we are more inclined to stick to decision because of internal or external forces make it easier to understand ourselves and others. While this book might not change my life, knowing and understanding personal accountability will at least help me when or if I fail in any task I set forth for myself.
