The Getaway

The Getaway is a commentary(?) set in a dystopian world. The commentary bit of the book is pretty in-your-face, but it isn't such a big deal if the book is good, right? Too bad it isn't. When I was reading, it felt like things just happened for the sake of happening. Someone would get shot for shock factor, someone would get electrocuted for shock factor, someone would break a limb for shock factor, etc. The book fully relies on a shock factor in an attempt to use some social commentary, but both aspects fall flat and decrease the book's quality.
