This book would have been five stars if it weren't for the odd faith thread. Praying to saints as a preference over praying to Jesus? No thanks! That faulty hierarchy in Jorgen's mind was disturbing.
I adored the heart Odette showed for the poor and Jorgen showed for the abused. They showed such great character traits there! The story itself was enjoyable and fascinating and adventurous.
At times, it felt like a reverse Robin Hood tale, yet at others (and especially with the name Odette), it felt like a retelling of The Swan Princess. Was it intended to be a mashup of the two fairy tales?
The journey of helping orphans and rescuing those forced into slavery and prostitution was superbly written. I rather enjoyed this book more than almost any other of Mrs. Dickerson's stories I've read to this point, just because it was so well done on the hunting, rescuing, and heart aspects.
Content: swearing by saints, prayer preference of one lead was saints above Jesus, sexual innuendo, prostitute house and its residents, child prostitute
