Written by Rabbi David de Sola Pool (1885–1970). Sola Pool served as Rabbi for Congregation Shearith Israel (called the "The Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue"), a Sephardi congregation in New York City. His service with Congregation Shearith Israel (the oldest Jewish synagogue in America established in 1654) began in 1907.
