In the wake of his father's sudden death, twelve-year-old Finn feels he is becoming invisible as his hair and skin become whiter by the day, and so he writes and illustrates a book to try to understand what is happening and to hold on to himself and his father.

Finn Garrett is my kind of hero: quietly witty, curious, heartbreaking and brave. A simply beautiful book about a boy trying to find himself again after losing his father. Finn has built a beautiful world around himself while trying to figure out just how this world works, and why. My recommendation: do the “homework” the protagonist “assigns”. It will make your world a more beautiful place, like Finn's, and even if they don't answer any of your questions about life - as many of Finn's questions remain unanswered - at the very least you will be very happy for having those questions to ask.
