RIP Washington Irving. You would have loved bowling
The Legend Of Sleepy Hallow 5/5
Fabulous - Washington Irving is a bit long-winded, but it works so well in this short story. It's like taking the scenic route in a story. You get to know Crane and his personality so well. He's a bit of an ass, superstitious, and hungry. He's written in a strangely likable way. Great ending and really everything comes together.
The Stout Gentleman 2/5
Kinda of a joke one - glad it was short!
The Haunted House & Dolph Heyliger 2/5
This is such a long one that I thought would have more pay off at the end... the beginning of Dolph's story is SO GOOD. There is a part when Dolph hears a cricket keeping him company at night and as he hears the sound going through the house and then the cricket stops chirping!!!! Honesty, chills. It's the best and scary part of the book...otherwise there is a bit where it looses the lead. A family ghost wanted him to find treasure. Idk
RIP Van Winkle - 3/5. A nice story about time travel, winning the revolution, and freedom, I guess? Another really funny one, especially having RIP come back after the revolutionary war and saying he likes the king.
I read about half of this book and seems enough for me.
