Well, I'm glad it's over! The only reason I drudged through this is because I wanted to make sure it doesn't magically improve by the end and I end up being unfair with this rating. But nope, it didn't get any better. Why this book is so loved is beyond me. It was melodramatic, cheesy and terribly shallow bordering on offensive. Also it was kind of disturbing how the mom was trying to control Brett's life beyond her grave. A 34 year old woman that doesn't know she's unhappy and can't get it together without being blackmailed by her mom with cryptic cheesy letters after her death is not sweet or sympathetic. The only reason she starts working on her “life list” is so she can get her hands on whatever inheritance her multimillionaire mom has left her. And she can't even move an inch without the constant push of her cheerleaders: her family and friends. For the life of me, I can't understand what's so endearing to read about a woman who's this pathetic, ignorant and weak.
