The Mystery of Mistletoe Motel

Why?

I could force myself through this, but it would net a one star and make me unreasonably angry. Look, I don't like Lacy - our POV - and find her incredibly unpleasant. I don't like how she treats her sister Stacy - of Stacy herself. (Yes, sisters Lacy and Stacy.) Don't like what ever is going on with Stacy's boyfriend. (And there seems to be either poor proofreading in that their father is alive, but then he died in the Motel, OR the writing was near incomprehensible.) Don't like the drunken impetus for the plot, but, really, I never recovered from this:

‘Debt was no longer an inanimate concept, but an insatiable monster. It sank its claws into my wallet and devoured the peace within my mind. I no longer panicked as I sat in its jaws and waited to be swallowed whole. On the tip of its tongue waiting for that final mouthful, I was in the eye of the proverbial storm. Hidden and yet naked to the monster all at once. It was only a matter of time.‘

...Holy mixed metaphors Batman. And also? I have never in my life appreciated such a florid writing style.
