The Nightmare

2020 • 298 pages

Honestly, I'm conflicted with my rating. It's legit closer to five stars than not. I just went back and forth between liking Zain and not liking Zain.

The world where The Mist exists is much better flushed out in this book than it was in the first book. My confusion in the first book stemmed from not quite understanding what The Mist was and what it did exactly. I will say that the author attempts and whats us to believe that there is a difference between Nightmares and Wishes but in terms of Zain and Naima, the way it is explained, Naima wished for Zain. It's not to say that she didn't consider him a nightmare but pay attention to his origin story. There are true nightmares within this world, I just think Zain was more of a misunderstood wish or a wish that went left or a half developed wish. Either way, I loved Naima from the beginning. I did LOVE how Zain refused to show his body or do anything that would not make it clear he was only Naima's. UGH! That's how I feel! You have to read the book to understand my reaction and his explanation. I really loved this book because from page one to page the end everything progressed beautifully and was really clear.
