Cordelia and her triplets Rosalind and Giles have lived safely in the castle at the centre of the forest all their lives, protected by the spells their mother has woven. The only time Cordelia feels truly free is when she turns into a dragonfly or a blackbird and can fly beyond the great stone walls. But then one day the outside world comes to them. Two rival dukes and their soldiers have come for the triplets – because whoever is the eldest is the heir to the throne. But their mother knows that since the Raven Crown was broken, no one has been able to rule the kingdom of Corvenne and live, and she will not give up any of her children to that death sentence. When she refuses to reveal which child is the eldest, she is taken prisoner, and Cordelia and her brother and sister find themselves on the run in a dangerous new world. And as they set out across Corvenne to rescue their mother, Cordelia begins to see that there is a deep magic at work, driving her towards a destiny that could tear her family apart, take away her freedom forever or, just maybe, heal a kingdom devastated by a war that has raged for generations.

A little while ago, The Dragon with a Chocolate Heart was recommended to me. I went to the library to borrow it, but it was lost in the catalog. They decided to buy a new copy and bought the entire series, but it didn't come in until after the libraries shut down indefinitely. Since then, I have bought a copy, but have not yet read it. Thus, when I saw The Raven Heir come across my possibilities, I couldn't help but jump at the opportunity to read and review it. I love every single minute of it. Many pages made me joyfully reminiscent of [b:Jinx 15818254 Jinx (Jinx #1) Sage Blackwood https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1349997100l/15818254.SY75.jpg 19258981]. A set of triplets make of the spine of this story and as a reader one is able to adventure on a fast-paced with plenty of thoughtful fodder journey. I really recommend this read for those that love nature and “peace on earth”. There are so many elements that I want to talk about, but I don't want to give it away because it such a good experience. I'll definitely be looking to add a copy of this to my library so that my children can read it. I read this as an eARC, and later LibbyApp eBook for review purposes.
Enjoyable but very predictable. This book feels too much like set up for the rest of the series (with an intriguing and clever premise, albeit) but not enough story in its own right.
