Reading the texts between Sherlock and John that occured mostly through the first part of the book left me smiling like an absolute idiot and it they felt so realistic, like - you know when a dialogue in a fanfic fits the characters so perfectly and head on that you can actually imagine their voices, yes? - that's how those text messages between the two of them were.

Their relationship progresses slowly, but all in all not much changes at all, except for the physical aspect and the fact that they actually need to talk about their feelings (or at least try and fail spectacularly at the beginning)if they want that to work. It isn't perfect, sappy or even all that romantic, but that's the charm of this story, because really, that's exactly what their relationship would be like.
