The Silver Linings Playbook

I'm a little embarrassed to say how much I enjoyed this book. I avoided it for years because I couldn't care less about football or football fans and I really thought that had more to do with the plot than it actually did. I finally picked it up because one of my reading challenges required me to read something set in my state (NJ) and for those who have only seen the movie know that the book takes place in Collingswood, NJ.
I have not seen the film. I did notice that MANY reviewers seem to like the movie better. I thought this book was awesome. I really cared about Pat and was terribly worried for him the entire time. I loved his mom (oh, my heart went out to that woman living with that miserable piece of crap for a husband). I liked the way it unfolded.
I think it was just the perfect time for me to read something like this: not too taxing on the brain and filled with quirky characters I cared about.
