It's 1932, the height of the Depression, and Butter O'Bryan and his friends have another mystery to solve. The Very Small Castle is home to Butter O'Bryan, his father and three aunts, plus friends Gil, Elsie and Olive and their dog Woofer. But now there is also a monster at the castle! When glamorous film actress Delilah Devine vanishes in the middle of the 'talkie' movie being filmed on Howlers Beach, the police suspect the movie's 'monster', who is being played by a war hero called Mr Manster. And while Butter's Aunts Cake, Elephant and Peculiar become involved a Depression eviction battle, Elsie disappears, too. What is causing these disappearances and can Butter solve the mysteries? And can there ever be a happy ending for someone who has been called a monster?
