The Wave

A high school teacher drills his students on ideas of power, discipline, and superiority to illustrate the development of attitudes such as those that allowed the Germans to deny responsibility for genocide under the Nazis. Based on a true incident in Palo Alto, California, the story is intended to stimulate thinking among those who maintain that it can't happen here.
