I'm glad I finally read this book although it was very slow in parts. I liked learning more about the life of Frank McCourt, his siblings and mother. I felt so bad for his poor mother that was so lonely in her apartment all alone that she would go out to the street and talk to strangers. Her boys didn't seem to appreciate the difficulties she was having with her health either. I wish I could somehow help Frank with his red eyes but then I'd like to smack him in the head for being so argumentative with his mother. I'd like to smack him again for being like his father and getting drunk instead of going home to his wife.
