If you're familiar with my reviews you probably know that I do not like alternating first person POVs most authors can't do them in a way that I don't end backtracking because I forgot who's talking. Habib made it work, each character's voice is distinctive enough that it's easy to no lose track of who's talking, and the pacing is snappy enough that it doesn't get repetitive or meandering.
Other than that, from the title to the characters names it was pretty much everything I like in my detection stories, a grizzled detective which while in possession of a certain code of morality is veering solidly in the direction of moral bankruptcy, antagonists that you love to hate, a little poetic flare here and there, a city that will chew you up and spit you out and break neck pacing. I loved it.
