Noticed that I still have my thoughts written in my notes for my review of this but then I dnf'd it so my thoughts stayed there. I want to delete them so I created a dnf shelf. :) Here ya go.
So the problem I have with Unhinged is that Morpheus expects more from Alyssa just like he accuses her of expecting more from him. There are so many instances in which his own arguments could be flipped and used against him. It is an unfair balance and it manifests in their conversations interactions and manipulations. From the very beginning Morpheus's actions are supposed to be portrayed as manipulative but with a good intent. And while I do believe that the author is creating tension on purpose there is no relief to it that would alleviate some of the dramatic twists and turns within the story. Therefore the plot is dependent upon very drastic decisions made not only by Morpheus but by the main character as well. There is an inevitability of what the future holds for Morpheus and Alyssa which I don't anticipate reading for the fact that it foreshadows so much of their ending, it seems to sacrifice the journey and storytelling that leads up to the prophesied ending.
