Seventeen-year-old Janelle Tenner is killed in a head-on collision with a pickup truck. The next thing she knows, Ben Michaels is leaning over her and is somehow responsible for her coming back to "life". At the same time, Janelle's father, an FBI agent, starts working on a case that seems strangely connected to Ben, and Janelle discovers a mysterious device that seems to be counting down to something that will happen in 23 days and 10 hours time. Whatever it is, Janelle wants to stop it and she needs to find out the truth about Ben in order to succeed.
