I just finished what Lurks in the shadows by S.C Shannon for @katieandbreypa and @s.c.shannon.author book tour and here is what I thought!
Grace was just 20 years old when the whole world came down around her. Literally. Her perfect life in ruins as her parents and her brother escape the carnage by going to their secluded cabin.
Just as they adjust to life in the post-apocalyptic world, they learn something terrifying... Something she wasn't prepared for. When the world collapsed, something not human had made their escape into this new world.
I heart me some post-apocalyptic books and this one lived up to my expectations. The whole dynamic of the world not just being fraught with peril, now there is something else out there, making the world not safe after dark. Loved it. I loved I got just enough info to keep me interested but not too much that it was over explained.
I did love the romance part in there too and usually I wouldn't be down for romance in this genre but it actually worked. Enjoyed the plot, the writing was fluid and the location was brilliant.
What didn't I love... it got a little repetitive. Not so much it mattered but enough to make me feel it was being padded a touch. It didn't need to be padded. It was really well done.
I like the character development although I felt her dad was a coward. He took the easy way out in my opinion.
