Even though these types of historical fiction are hard to read, I find myself gravitated towards them. The bravery of everyday people from that time both astounds me and brings such hope and light into my heart.
When Darkness Comes is one of these types of books. Everyday people, those you wouldn't suspect, take it upon themselves to do what's right and fight the oppression and downright evil of the Nazis.
This is a very quick read, easy to swept away in. It reads young to me so I would say this could even be considered YA Historical Fiction for older teens. There are a couple of sensitive scenes but nothing overly graphic. This era should not be forgotten and books like this shared with both young and old.
