This book was phenomenal and I would recommend it to anyone. Everyone should read it. Particular chapters beneficial to me were ones in which the author outlined how society, courts, and individuals unintentionally support abusers. While I've lived free from abuse in my relationships, I can be an ally for others.

Critiques from surfing other reviews have pointed out how “heterosexual” this book is, focusing mainly on male on female abuse. I would be eager to read a book that focuses on other types of relationships, however that doesn't take from the importance of this book. It was still very thorough in explaining myths surrounding abuse, types of abuse, features that transcend these types, how abusive attitudes emerge, etc. I learned A LOT reading this.
