Wild Nell, the White Mountain Girl.

Wild Nell is a very old story, written in the days when many authors put a list of what happens in the chapter instead of picking chapter titles! Nell is a simple mountain girl, who becomes a devout Christian girl and has a good ending by reason of her virtue and truthful nature. The plot is simplistic by today's standpoint, but I enjoyed it very much and would recommend it.
I am not sure where a copy can be found; mine is the original 1860 edition, which I bought about ten years ago in a used books store. I enjoyed the writing style. It's easy to become thoroughly immersed in the sweet story, and I very nearly gave it the whole five stars!
Mrs. H. J. Moore appears to have been relatively unknown, although other books she authored are referenced on the title page of the book. Someday I hope to have a chance to read more of her books.
