Winter Prey

A house fire turns into so much more when it is discovered the family was brutally murdered. The sheriff had heard about Lucas Davenport and his success in catching murderers so he sent someone to track him down. In the process of investigating they went to the school to talk to the daughter's friends there and a boy said she had a picture from some sort of magazine that she was showing around. He said she was scared about it because the boy in the picture was found dead. The police talked to the boy at the school and then took him home to his dad. Later, that boy turned up missing and was eventually found dead. Lucas felt responsible because by taking the boy home people could know who was talking to police. Then he realized the female doctor at the school was also seen talking to him and he was worried the killer would go after her too. He was but not because of Lucas. He had another reason for wanting her dead but she avoided him every time. Of course Lucas was banging her because he has to screw someone in every book. This time though, he is actually falling in love and he has to figure this thing out fast or she might be next.
