The breathless pacing of a short story or novella packed with the plot and world-building that would almost work for a full length novel. At 230 pages it's kind of too short and too long at the same time. I think 350 pages would have given a bit more time to get to know the characters, build both red herrings and hints of the actual baddies, as well as expand on the intriguing lore that was introduced. The epilogue worked for me, I'm always down for a fresh take on the classic final girl trope, but the rest of it left me wanting more, because it seems so clear that the author could deliver: distinct personalities(hurray for black, queer rep!), unique urban legend, decent spooky placement. Very rushed. Just didn't quite all come together.
