Updated Review: Jooin reminds me a lot of Jugyeon from [b:True Beauty 41709437 True Beauty Yaongyi https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1610188215l/41709437.SX50.jpg 65052343]—it's the same insufferable, dumb as a brick, annoyingly indecisive MC that just strings along both of their love interests for no good reason whatsoever.Cain still seems to be the same cringe-inducing flat character that he always was with the same unbelievable, contrived origin story that makes absolutely no sense, though there's only been a few eps of season 3 out so far so I hope that will change (or you know, he could just be removed from the story entirely since his only personality trait is being a simp for Jooin). Also, what the hell is up with Yahwi? He's a toxic character with a traumatic backstory that was told to the readers in the previous season, but he's not getting any form of character development. Instead, he's becoming even more toxic, and for what? To make all of the characters in this story insufferable? It's just such a shame because I remember giving this manhwa 4 or 5 stars when I first read it because the sheer enjoyment of reading this was so high for me at the time. But now, the plot and characterizations have simply become nonsensical and insipid.Original Review: I was really enjoying this initially, but in hindsight I realised that as soon as Cain came into the story everything just went a bit downhill for me. Sure, he's a really nice person who cares for Jooin, but his entire personality is just being a simp for Jooin. So far at least, he's a very underdeveloped and one dimensional character. Also, the reasoning behind Cain suddenly showing up in Jooin's life due to Cain recognising Jooin as being his “master” in his past life is so insanely unbelievable and contrived. It wasn't expanded upon in any way and we're just supposed to believe that Jooin is convinced by all this bogus? This just made it so obvious that the author needed to throw in a character to make things more complicated between Jooin and Yahwi, but could not think of a sophisticated way to make that happen, so they just decided sloppily throw a love triangle character into existence.Despite Yahwi being incredibly toxic, I still find him interesting to read about even if I don't like him as a person. He's a well fleshed out character with a decent backstory which gives context as to why he acts the way he does in certain situations, which definitely does not justify his actions but it makes him a more believable and nuanced character. I hope Cain's characterisation gets executed better in season 3 because right now his entire existence seems so contrived that I just have a hard time looking past it.
