What are some unusual takes on the zombie apocalypse?

We all know the standard zombie apocalypse.
Thing happens so let's follow a ragtag group of survivors on their journey across a country and into the human psyche.

As an example, Mira Grant's fantastic Feed series follows a post-infection society through the eyes of micro-bloggers.
They also wrote the Parasitology series which in my eyes is a very different interpretation too. Parasites created to help solve our heath woe's develop consciousness and decide to take over their host.
