Having recently finishing the Forgotten Brotherhood series, I've been in a little reading slump.

Enter “Taming the White Wolf.”

I flew through this one in a few days...probably would have finished it in a single sitting if the real world wouldn't keep intruding

I admit that when reading the Dread Penny Society series, I usually skipped over the “Penny Dreadful” portions of the book because it took away from the flow of the original stories. There were several stories that I did skim through while reading that drew my interest, I just never went back to read only the serial potions.

Needless to say, I was pleased to see that this collection was coming out. It was nice being able to read the story chapters together as short stories, and found a few that I wish were actual ongoing stories ☺️.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What the fresh h-e-double hockey sticks did I just read?

Very well written...thought I had a handle on things, until the rug was pulled out from under me

This book was really fun for me...a very much needed respite of humor and silliness to help counteract the current hostility and bleakness of real life right now. I think my favorites were the “do NOT try this at home” recipes. The pictures were beautiful, and the directions were clear enough that even a novice like me probably wouldn't mess up TOO bad.

2 - 2.5 stars

I had very high hopes for this book but felt let down at the end. The premise was intriguing (a mother transfers specific memories to her daughter)...I was immediately drawn into the story. Somewhere around the halfway mark, I started to lose track of the storyline because so much was happening. The ending felt way too rushed for me...it felt like I had skipped several chapters for the “twist” at the end to happen the way it did.
