I admit that when reading the Dread Penny Society series, I usually skipped over the “Penny Dreadful” portions of the book because it took away from the flow of the original stories. There were several stories that I did skim through while reading that drew my interest, I just never went back to read only the serial potions.
Needless to say, I was pleased to see that this collection was coming out. It was nice being able to read the story chapters together as short stories, and found a few that I wish were actual ongoing stories ☺️.

Sarah M. Eden is now officially a “go to” author for me.
I've been in a MAJOR reading slump for a while now....even my favorite re-reads weren't helping. The Merchant and the Rogue, the third installment in the “Dread Penny Society”, is helping to kick that to the curb. I DEVOURED the story this weekend...probably would have finished it in one sitting if “adulting” wouldn't have gotten in the way.
I love how each story focuses on a specific member of the Dread Penny Society while leaving enough breadcrumbs for other members of the club, leaving you anxiously waiting for the next story wondering who it will be about.

“The Scarlet Pen” by Jennifer Uhlarik is the newest story in the True Color series. I found it to be an excellent addition. The characters were well written, as was the story line which was based on the exploits of Stephen Dee Richards who was later called the “Nebraska Butcher” or “Nebraska Fiend”.
The story was presented so well that I found myself wanting to learn more of the actual story.
Hoping that there will be more stories added to this intriguing series.

This book spoke to me on so many levels. I've never been an example of what fitness is expected to look like, and never will. Partially due to this I've always had low self-esteem and don't feel particularly good about myself. The author states throughout the book that everyone is different and shouldn't try to force yourself in to a “perfect” image that will never be achieved. She doesn't give you excuses not to work out, but to try different things and find what works out for you.

This was an interesting, if short read. The characters drew me in quickly...I liked that all were very dedicated to the end purpose, albeit different reasons. Yes, I would have liked a “little” more substance to them, but maybe that's for a different story? The setting was obviously claustrophobic (and well done).

I WANT TO BE A RED ROGUE!
The Devil in Her Bed is the 3rd book in the “Devil You Know” trilogy by Kerrigan Byrne. I found this to be a very satisfying end to an intriguing series. Francesca has been a favorite of mine since the start of the series, so was excited to finally get to her story. I was a little put off by some of the Devil's reactions, but not enough to really take away from the story (for me).
Once real life slows down some, I REALLY need to try some of Kerrigan's other books. :)

I found this to be an enjoyable ending to the Black Sun trilogy. The historical ending is known from the start, but the journey there was very interesting due to the well-written characters and storyline.

I truly enjoyed the storyline of this book, especially considering the subject matter brought up (body shaming, the perceived expectation of privacy, standards accepted (or not) by gender, etc). Unfortunately, the characters themselves fell a little flat for me, except for Sloane...I had a classmate similar to her in high school but was too young (and immature) to appreciate her at the time. Hopefully, there will be more books soon that will tastefully handle these subjects as this one seems to have done.

I had very high hopes for this book but felt let down at the end. The premise was intriguing (a mother transfers specific memories to her daughter)...I was immediately drawn into the story. Somewhere around the halfway mark, I started to lose track of the storyline because so much was happening. The ending felt way too rushed for me...it felt like I had skipped several chapters for the “twist” at the end to happen the way it did.

Another very solid installment in the “True Colors” books series. This one is written by Liz Tolsma, and centers on Belle Gunness who was found to have killed at least 14 people (including 2 husbands and her own children). Sometimes I feel a bit guilty for enjoying this series as much as I do considering the subject matter, but as always am looking forward to the next one.

As a prior reviewer stated, I have mixed feelings about this book. The horrors that Hitler, Goering, Goebbels, Himmler, and others introduced into the world are well known and recorded. The girlfriends and wives of these men are generally lesser-known. I feel that the author did a good job presenting information on these women in a non-judgmental way.

I love watching shows and movies purely for entertainment; more often than not, I end up watching and listening for inconsistencies instead of the main story. After finishing this book, I found myself wishing that I was half as clever and snarky as the author with my own commentaries.

I admit, the cover is the first thing that caught my interest in this story. Second, the synopsis: alchemy, strong characters, with a little supernatural thrown in? Yes, please!
Overall, I found the book quite interesting. I kind of got a bit confused with the characters that I was supposed to be loving / hating at any given time, but that's what help make the twist at the end enjoyable. The ending did feel a little rushed for me, but still felt like a good read.

When I received the ARC for this book, I didn't realize that it was actually the sixth in a series (shame on me, book covers are what usually draws my attention to a book). That being said, I really did enjoy this story. The main couple (Beast and Thea) were very strong people with similar ethics due to traumatic life experiences, but seemed better because of them.
I found the family members just as interesting (sometimes more
