So, you really cannot escape your past, right?

I liked the story and truly loved the way it was written, it is a masterclass in tension building. And the audiobook narrator did a great job too.

I am a bit disappointed, because the book focuses on Anglo-Saxon traditions with hardly any mention of the Christmas customs observed in other countries. That's a pity.

I would have probably given it 4 stars, if I had not started reading “The Sheltering Sky” which is blowing my mind now. It's not a bad book, just don't read a masterpiece right after it.

fair to middling

Oh, those poor Wehrmacht soldiers! They may be responsible for the worst atrocities humans have ever committed, but they are so innocent at heart, so relatable!
Many words have been said about the dangers of distorting history, smoothing out the evils, so I will just say one thing: I really did not like this book.

An absolute masterpiece, I loved every (sparse) word of it, it is so pure and beautiful. It definitely goes on the list of my favourites.

Apparently this one hasn't passed the test of time. Sorry to say that.

Dlaczego? Przecież taki komentarz do otaczającej rzeczywistości byłby b. ciekawy. Szkoda.

Absolutely brilliant!
It's been six months since I finished it and I still keep thinking about it.
Highly recommended!

I'm not a big fan of Tana French's Murder Squad series, but I liked this book. It's well written and well paced and not obvious. Somehow, it brings to mind Stephen King's Hodges trilogy - the plots have nothing in common, but it's just as good.

scary and disturbing

My all time favourite

Geart read (but really disturbing)
