WoW!
I know that book 1-3 tote themselves as “Fifty Shades of Grey meets Fight Club” But this book definitely has a darker kink side than the previous three novels making this sentence a little truer.
This story is about Rampage - the notorious Gossip at Redemption and Penny - the British who wears pastels and loves death metal. Typical friends to lovers
You see another side of each of these characters that you didn't get a glimpse of in previous books.
While BDSM is not my normal reads at all. I still enjoyed the story and learning more about the continued family of Redemption.
I was given an ARC by Netgalley.
I was a little confused about the genre of this book. Was is romance or New Adult?
Sometimes I forgot that the two main characters were in College - so it explained a little bit of their emotional maturity (or lack of it).
I didn't read the first book in the series and felt that it was ok to jump into the second. While I wasn't in love with this book (it was more of a meh....) I still want to go back and read the first book with Rena and Devlin.
I thought that the backstory could have been fleshed out a bit. There was a very small paragraph as to WHY Cade was street riding (to help his dad's gambling issue) but Cade never told his dad this was the reason or discussed it with him.
Maybe this is mentioned in book one - but why was Tash at the car crash in the beginning?
I thought that this was a super cute book. I really loved the aspect of a female football coach. Besides the adorable romance - there was a great undertone of “girl power”. Iona had a lot of pressure being the first black, female football coach which I think was dealt with very well.
My only minor issue is that as a non-football person, there were a few references and terms that I had to look up to understand what the author was talking about.
Cliffhanger: No
HEA: Yup!
Love triangle? Nope!
Cheating? - Nope
Would I read more by this author/or in this series? - Yes
This is an ARC book
I thought this book was very cute. It had all of the elements of the classic romance.
However, from the synopsis - I was expecting a little more sass and witty banter from the main the two characters. It was very mellow and insta-love. It was still a good quick read that makes me want to continue learning about the other players on the hockey team - or even Miranda's sister :)
I got a free copy for a review.
Honestly, I liked this WAY more than the first book. I thought both of character were better written as well. Jessa was nice but not my favorite type of heroine. I like them a little more strong willed and fiesty. She got better as she learned to trust Romer and figure out that he wasn't the same asshole as her ex
I just didn't understand why Jessa didn't tell Romer sooner about Anthony Blake - then they could have just figured out that Romer and Anthony are the same person
