Struggled with the smug tone - feels like a worse, less engaging version of Rivers of London

Fun, popcorn-y adventure. Each chapter ended in a way that felt like a plot sting just before the adverts in a TV show, but sadly many of the reveals/twists are rushed.
Has some wonderful characters - but I still don't feel I know much of ‘The Band'.
I've happily added Bloody Rose, the sequel, to my list to see where the story goes next.

Generations ago - the bad guy won, now a team is putting on a heist to remove the Lord Ruler. 

Great characters, interesting magic system and fun plot. 

Only reason that it's lost a star is during its engaging and exciting finale (I genuinely couldn't stop reading, I was gripped) there were a few convinces that made it wobble a little for me - but it still stuck the landing. 

This is my first Sanderson, and is not going to be my last. 

I really enjoyed this  - more than I expected. 

The book is a fun romp (if a little dark at times, we're following murders and thieves after all), and because Lynch does a great job making you care about the characters you want to to find out if their schemes succeed or fail (even if sometimes the solutions are a little convenient). I've seen reviews describe the core relationship as one of the best bromances, which I can get behind - I look forward to seeing where the team goes next. 

Lynch uses interludes heavily - though very good at helping with the character and world building, I did find them a bit of a speed-bump on the books momentum. But don't let that put you off...power through the interludes (they aren't very long) and you'll fall back into the action.
