A thrilling follow up to He Sees You When You Are Sleeping.
Alta Hensley is back with a follow up. But this time instead of Chloe from book 1, it’s her edgy jewelry-making bestie, Sloane. We get to know Sloane in book 1 as she’s a jewelry designer, but likes edgy things on the side. In this installment, we see Sloane shine. She gets an investment offer from a rich billionaire if she completes a jewelry line by Christmas. She meets with him only to discover she’s met him before. He moves her into his private apartment where she must work to complete the deadline he has set for her.
First off, I loved Sloane and Cole’s banter. They had great chemistry from the beginning. I loved that they both sassed each other. The dynamics were amazing. I loved Sloane’s humor and sarcasm and I loved how Cole just met her back with his own. Seeing their relationship develop was satisfying. They were both great characters in their own rights, each having depth and real emotions that were understandable and appreciated.
As always, Alta delivered in the dark romance category. The story was interesting and spicy. It did have a different feel from book 1, but that was to be expected as the characters are different people and have different lives and tastes. The writing was on par with book 1. I do like that Chloe from book 1 made a guest appearance.
Narrators for the audiobook were great. They brought the characters to life. Audio listening time was roughly 10 hrs. Audio was clear and had no issues. Narrators were easy to understand.
This book gives spicy billionaire stalker themes. It reminds me a bit of Fifty Shades of Grey. It had that kind of vibe in some places. So if you like billionaire romances, dark romances, a touch of Dom/sub, dark and dark protector vibes, this may be the book for you.
For fans of Lights Out, Butcher and Blackbird series, and Fifty Shades of Grey
As I said earlier, this book had a bit of a different vibe than book 1. It’s certainly darker in my opinion, but it’s a great addition to the series.
