I have literally no critiques. This book is perfection. The representation, the romance, the plot, the feels—perfection! This was my first book by Hannah Bonam-Young, and it won't be the last! Out on a Limb follows Win and Bo and their life together after a one night stand results in a pregnancy. The way the author treats the pregnancy and Win's opinions and thoughts is so great and there were definitely things I could relate to as someone who's experienced pregnancy. And Bo! Bo is so amazing and so tender. His story is so special. I loved it. Every bit of it. The story, the romance, the spicy bits—it was just so good! There's an authors note at the front of the book that discusses some of the themes so please check that out or dm me for trigger warnings. Out on a Limb is an adult romance, 18+ for themes and content
It is always a good time being back at Briar University, but this book reinforced why I love Elle Kennedy so much. The Dixon Rule follows Diana, cheer leader for Briar and BFF to GiGi Graham, and Shane, member of Briar's men's hockey team. Shane Lindley is a MMC that I know will be stuck in my head for a while. He's literally the whole package: he's sexy, kind, and communicates like a dream. Diana and Shane find themselves living at the same condo complex, which Diana doesn't love. Some events transpire which leads them to set aside their rivalry and pretend to be dating—which we all know leads to development of real feelings swoon. I loved everything about this book. It is funny, it is sexy as hell, and it was emotional. With tropes like forced proximity, fake dating, enemies to lovers what's not to like? The Dixon Rule reminded me so much of some of Elle Kennedy's earlier works and I loved that! This book does cover some heavy topics so please check trigger warnings or DM me. The Dixon Rule is an adult sports romance 18+ for content and themes.
I loved this book! I'd met Emmeline and Nick briefly in the Clifton Forge series, but I loved getting to see their beginning and love story. Emmeline thought she would never see Nick again after he left her in Vegas on the night of their marriage. When she takes a job in a small town in Montana to escape the city, she certainly never expected to run into him at a party. There's tension and pining and spice along with everything I've come to expect and love about a Devney Perry book! One character from this book who we meet in another series made me very sad and iykyk but that's all I'm saying to keep things spoiler free! The Clover Chapel is an adult small town romance, 18+ for content
This has been the perfect series for me to read during this busy spring! They're such fun reads, I found myself unable to stop reading. Stealing Home follows Mia, a woman with big dreams she is scared to tell her family about, and Sebastian, adopted brother to James and Cooper and college baseball player. This was forced proximity, second chance goodness. The spice was spicing and I loved the dual POV! The audiobook was well done with dual narration. I cannot wait for the next book in this series! Stealing Home is an adult sports romance, 18+ for sexual content
This series has been on my TBR for a long time! When I saw they were available via the library on audio, I decided it was time! I love the tropes in this book! Fake dating, athlete in need of a tutor, a MMC who will do anything for his girl— this had it all. First Down follows Bex, amateur photographer who knows exactly where her life is heading no matter how badly she wants to go in a different direction, and James, senior transfer athlete (loved the LSU mention) hoping to make a name for himself. This was a super fun and quick read on audio and I really liked the dual narration. The spice and romance were great, and I thought it fit the characters well. First Down is an adult sports romance, 18+ for themes and sexual content.
I really loved this book (shocked? lol) After meeting Sofia in book 1, I was so excited to get to her book. I actually ended up relating and connecting with her character more than I thought I would! Sofia is Logan's sister and she finds herself in Lark Cove for an escape from the city gossips. Dakota works at the bar and finds himself in charge of training Sofia as a favor to Thea. The tension and spice with them is some of the best in the series in my opinion. I loved the evolution of their relationship and the growth the characters had. One more book in the series... ready to check another Devney series off the list! Tinsel is an adult romance, 18+ for sexual content.
Devney Perry!!! I'm screaming, I'm smiling, I can't stop. Iykyk Isaiah!!! I had no idea but when it clicked, it clicked! I LOVE how Devney makes all these connections, not only across books, but also across her series!! Tragic is the fourth book in this series, and I really loved it. Did it punch me in the feels with emotion? Absolutely yes, but the story, the healing that takes place, seeing the characters from other books grow all have lives in Lark Cove
Still on my Devney Perry shit and definitely not complaining about it. Devney writes some of the best characters, and I've come to really love her stories. I'm loving the town of Lark Cove! Timid follows Jackson, co-owner of the Lark Cove bar, and Willa, a woman who has been crushing on Jackson since he came to town. Jackson has a dark past similar to Thea and has found solace in Lark Cove. One night, he finally notices Willa after she'd been crushing on him for years. This has everything I love about a Devney book: great banter, great plot, and great spice. Timid is an adult romance, 18+ for sexual content
I started this series on audio because the library had it, and this first book did not disappoint at all! I love Devney Perry's writing and story telling, it's familiar and reliable. Tattered follows Thea, a woman with a troubled past who sought solace in Lark Cove, and Logan, a wealthy man from New York. After a one night stand 6 years ago, Logan finds himself in Lark Cove doing work for his foundation. He doesn't expect to run into Thea, the woman from 6 years ago, and he doesn't expect her to have a daughter. I loved the way this trope was written so much, it's not always a favorite, but Devney did it justice. I really liked the romance between Thea and Logan— tension, spice, all the things I like. A little bit of a mysterious/suspense element always keeps the pages turning, and this was no exception. Tattered is an adult romance, 18+ for sexual content.
Y'all I am giddy over this book! I loved it so so much! We've had a busy few days and I wanted an easy audio while I ran around with the kids and did things around the house. It did not disappoint! Check & Mate follows Mallory and Nolan. Mallory's life used to be chess until she started taking responsibility for her family's care and finances. Nolan is a professional chess player whose life revolves around chess. Their meet-cute is so cute and sweet. This is a young adult book, but it didn't feel “too young” to me so I'd say definitely upper YA. I found Nolan so precious and sweet. The way Ali Hazelwood writes is so fun and witty. I loved the representation in the book, it felt very inclusive. This was just such a breath of fresh air. Check & Mate is an upper young adult romance, 16+ for themes, language, sexual content.
If you've been here a bit or know me at all, I am a sucker for forced proximity. It is like one of my favorite tropes right up there with enemies to lovers and my other faves. This book delivered on tension and forced proximity! After Stone Princess, I was hoping that Luke would get a happy ending and this is it! Noble Prince follows Scarlett, Presley's sister who's just come back into her life, and Luke, Clifton Forge police chief. After the intense ending of Stone Princess, Scarlett finds herself in need of protection from the Arrowhead Warriors and, having limited resources, Luke is responsible for keeping her safe. Luke is an all around good guy which Scarlett needs after everything she has been through. There's tension, spice, a good story— I'm really enjoying this series! Really makes me want to rewatch Sons on Anarchy but idk if I want to relive the emotional damage
Made my way back to Clifton Forge for Presley and Shaw's story. I really like Devney Perry's writing and how she sprinkles in the mystery with the romance. Presley works at the garage and Shaw is an actor shooting a film on location about a murder that occurred in the town (iykyk). Presley is determined to give Shaw the cold shoulder, but when he coincidentally moves in next door to her, he becomes difficult to avoid. This book was pretty good. I didn't love it as much as Steel King or Riven Knight, but still enjoyed it. I really liked Shaw and his story. I didn't like some of the conflict— some felt a little unnecessary. The romance was good and spicy like we like, and this book has enemies to lovers and forced proximity tropes, which I love. Overall I enjoyed it and I will be moving on to the next book in the series! Stone Princess is an adult romance, 18+ for content and themes. Check TW
What a ride y'all! I had been seeing this book everywhere and bought a copy because it had pretty sprayed edges telling myself I'd read it soon, but when I saw @styleyourshelf was also wanting to read it, a buddy read ensued! I have enjoyed past works by Danielle Jensen, so I knew the writing would be strong, but this book had it all—strong writing, strong plot, intrigue, tension—everything. A Fate Inked in Blood follows Freya, a woman in a miserable marriage who harbors a secret power bestowed on her by a god. Her circumstances change abruptly when this power is made known. The jarl she is forced to marry ensures her safety from harm by putting his son, Bjorn, in charge of looking after her. Y'all, Bjorn. Is. Everything. I really loved his character so much. He's a bit grumpy but that only makes the banter so good. Their romance is the slowest of burns, and at one point I was practically begging for a break in the tension. There's forced proximity, enemies to lovers, and amazing tension and banter. This Norse inspired story was so good, and I can't wait for book 2! A Fate Inked in Blood is an adult romantic fantasy, 18+ for sexual content
Oh my goodness, this was such a fun book! I bought this book completely because I thought the cover was cute, but this may be one of my favorite romcoms. The Fake Mate follows Mackenzie, a fairly new ER doctor tired of her grandmother trying to set her up on dates, and Noah, a cardiologist who has a grumpy demeanor and is keeping a secret. They make a bargain that is mutually beneficial to both of them. The Fake Mate is a paranormal romance that I think would be great for people who are curious or new to omegaverse stories. The spice is spicing in this book and I absolutely devoured it! Will definitely be checking out other works by the author. If you're looking for a hot, fun, slump-busting book, check this one out! The Fake Mate is an adult paranormal romantic comedy, 18+ for sexual content.
Oh my goodness Tessa Bailey for the win with this one! This was such a fun read, I truly devoured it! Fangirl Down follows Josephine, a golf super-fan in need of money, and Wells, a grumpy golfer who is off his game. When Wells wants to reenter the tour, he hires Josephine to be his caddie, and she helps him get his game back. Fangirl Down is a grumpy/sunshine spicy romcom that was truly everything. The medical representation was so well done. I loved the tension between Josephine and Wells and the romance was so hot! No third act breakup, just an absolute win! I never thought I'd be into a golf romance, but here I am absolutely fangirling about this book! Fangirl Down is an adult romance, 18+ for sexual content.
It was nice to be back on Rebel Blue Ranch! I really enjoyed Done and Dusted so picking up Swift and Saddled was a no-brainer. Swift and Saddled follows Ada, an interior designer looking for a fresh start, and Wes, one of the Ryder siblings who wants to make his family proud. I really loved the mental health representation in this story and the openness with which it was talked about. I felt like the story was good and the romance was definitely 5 Stars. The third act break up felt unnecessary to the story. I also felt like the book itself could have been longer. Look, I love that her books are shorter and aren't these 500+ page chunkers, but I think the characters could've been a little more developed. I would have loved a deeper look into Wes and Ada because I loved the bits she did give us. Overall I liked it. I will definitely be picking up the next one when it releases. Swift and Saddled is an adult romance, 18+ for sexual content
This was not a book I planned on reading today but I picked it up and could not stop! Alice Hoffman has a way with words that is so beautiful and unique. I went into this book absolutely blind. I bought a physical copy a few months ago because the cover grabbed my attention. The Invisible Hour is the story of Mia, a young woman looking for a way out of a cult called the Community that she and her mother are a part of. She finds solace inside of a book she stole from the library and clings to it as if her life depends on it. The Scarlet Letter is that book and its story feels very familiar to Mia. I don't want to give away too many details because going in blind was so fun! There is a romantic subplot, but this definitely is not a romance novel. The Invisible Hour is adult literary fiction, 16+ for themes, mild sexual content.
