i did really like this book, it just kind of escaped me in the middle. i went through a long part of time where i couldn't find anything interesting to look forward to until it got closer to the end- which really excited me. honestly i really was hoping that bree and sel would get together - and i unfortunately let that blindside me from the great works of this book. this was an amazing story that i loved, it was just kind of slow for me. but wonderfully written and amazing for being a ya novel. good read :)

specifically a 4.7 star rating only because it's a romance novel and i reserve 5 star ratings for my sci-fi books
but that doesn't mean this book wasn't amazing! i definitely loved it, and out of the other two ali hazelwood novels i have read (the love hypothesis and love on the brain) this has been my favourite from her. it could also be that i took a big break since the last time i've read one of her books (over a year ago) but this book felt very fresh and fun compared to her others. while these three books that i've read from her have all centered around women in stem and finding a handsome, sexy, and out-of-this-world perfect man in stem, this one felt better. i don't know how to explain it! i think elsie's character was a lot more relatable and had a lot more character development than the other two novels (but nonetheless, those books are still great). i'm really glad i read this book and it included a great story, characters, spice, and internal character development. this is 100% worth reading!!

Annihilation

Wrote a review for

one of the most underrated science fiction novels i have read in a long time. while the writing style was very unique, it added to the book and to the feeling that the book gave of suspense and tension. i'm so glad i decided to give this book a chance, rather than listen to the countless hateful reviews on this novel. i was initially interested in reading the book because i watched the movie adaptation about 4 years ago and was blown away by it. while the book is nothing like the movie- i still loved it because it gave greater insight into many of the questions i wondered when i watched the film. i'm so glad this book exists- and i plan on reading the rest of the trilogy when i get the chance. amazing book!

DNF. Couldn't stand the cringe writing and the romance was lacking. Also couldn't stand Piper's character- I just can't feel any empathy for her.. The smut was alright, other than that it was a waste of my time!

wow !!!! i thought i was gonna like this book, then as i began it i was afraid of the big and different words (i haven’t read a british-english book in a long time) and then as i went through it i fell in love !! it was hard to put down, but the end was so rushed :( i wanted more time, the unresolved tension is still very much unresolved, and i will be anxiously awaiting the next book . so glad i got to read this !

A good kind of romantic slow burn that has the perfect amount of action, humour, and violence to add to the intensity of the story. Loved this book and cannot wait to start the next one!

For a dark romance, I did actually enjoy reading this one. I love fairy tale retellings and this was no different! Good spice, was a quick read, and entertaining! Enjoyed it.

Coraline

Wrote a review for

Was mainly disappointed because I was told the book would be scarier than the movie. Maybe because I'm a bit of a horror snob I was not scared at all, but nonetheless Gaiman's classic storytelling made this a quick read. Coraline will always be one of my favorite stories, so I'm glad I read this!

This was quite a journey. Definitely a classic for a reason and was very challenging to read. I had to lock in a lot, but I still loved the story nonetheless!

I really wanted to like this book! I am going to reread it soon. I was falsely told that it was a fluffy romance- and that was exactly what I was looking for since I had just finished reading Dune (the densest of dense). Alas, it was not that and had a lot more depth to it. Since I was just not expecting it, I didn't love it that much. Will reread!

This was such a cutie story! I loved Sarah Dessen's writing and the summer setting was perfect. I loved the romance and the coming of age young adult element.

I really liked this book! Though I had to read it for AP Lit, I was enamored by the teaching of culture and differences that were so unlike mine. I've never read a novel like this one before, and I'm glad I read it.

For a Colleen Hoover book, this one was actually okay! She always does really good plot twists, and this one had plenty of those. I did enjoy reading it.
