This was a bit of a ride for me.
- This is called by the author a dark romance, while it has a few inklings of if at the beginning I'm not sure I would call it that. The darkest parts of this book were the backstory at the beginning and the event that leads to everyone meeting. That had some really dark moments but it was somewhat quick to pass.
- Relationship wise, we have 2 pairs of guys that come together in different ways. One of the pairs is part of an established relationship with our female character, these two had different personalities and the worst I can say about them is that they like things i don't. The second pair of guys is the reason for the dark romance tag and they do fall within that genre for a little bit. My issue is that after that I don't feel the groveling and revenge were fitting as punishment.
- Our female character was lauded as strong and badass but we hear about it more than we see, though we do see a little of it. I wasn't convinced.
Unconvinced, that is the best description of what I felt, I went expecting something, got a hint of it and then it didn't fully follow on promises made.
